In responding to needs of young people and to involve young people in recognizing and sharing their unique God-given gifts in order to make a positive difference in the lives of others and the larger community, Our Lady of the Angels Parish Youth Ministry is rooted in the 3 goals of Renewing the Vision:  a Framework for Catholic Youth Ministry, authored and approved by the National Conference of Catholic Bishops.

Goal 1:To empower young people to live as missionary disciples of Jesus Christ in our word today.

Jesus Christ invites us into relationship with Him.  Discipleship-following Jesus-is at the heart of the
Church’s mission (RTV) Jesus invites us into a grand adventure.  Are we ready to follow in His footsteps, and to be challenged to live with the vision and values of the Kingdom of God?  Do we accept his invitation to mission?

Goal 2:  To draw young people to responsible participation in the life, mission and work of the Catholic faith community.

In recognizing our unique God-given gifts, we actively participate in the mission of Jesus Christ and his Church by sharing them in service to our families, our parish, our schools, and our wider communities.  In so doing, we also continue our own growth in maturing discipleship and challenge towards holiness.

Goal 3:  To foster the total personal and spiritual growth of each young person.

Ministry with adolescents promotes the growth of healthy, competent, caring and faith-filled Catholic young people.   The Church is concerned for the whole person, addressing the young people’s spiritual needs in the context of his or her whole life.  Ministry with adolescents fosters positive adolescent development and growth in both Christian discipleship and Catholic identity.

These goals are manifest in areas of advocacy, catechesis, community life, evangelization, justice & service, leadership development, pastoral care and prayer & worship.
